Rabbi Lebanon Hails New Kashrut Law as Revolutionary for Israel
Rabbi Elyakim Lebanon, head of the Alon Moreh Yeshiva and chief rabbi of Samaria, praised the Israeli Knesset's approval of the new Kashrut law, calling it a significant milestone in strengthening the national kosher certification system. In a video statement released on Friday, Rabbi Lebanon expressed gratitude to the law's promoters and highlighted that the legislation adds to Torah observance, health, kosher standards, integrity, and faith within the Israeli public.
Rabbi Lebanon noted that the law's passage came after more than a decade of dedicated work by the organization "Kashrut". He acknowledged the repeated challenges faced during the legislative process but emphasized that breakthrough cooperation among various government and Knesset members made the success possible. He specifically thanked Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, Knesset member Ohad Tal, and Rabbi Yehuda Avidan, CEO of the Ministry of Religious Services, for their roles in advancing the bill.
Concluding his remarks, Rabbi Lebanon expressed hope that the law would be implemented effectively and embraced by all relevant bodies, resulting in blessings for the entire nation. He also extended thanks to everyone who contributed to the law's promotion and completion over the years.
