Ultra-Orthodox Protesters Block Highway 4 Over Draft Evasion Arrests in Central Israel
Ultra-Orthodox protesters affiliated with the extremist "Hertzpeniks" group, linked to the Jerusalem Faction, are blocking Highway 4 near the Geha and Givat Shmuel interchanges as well as in Bnei Brak. The demonstration is in protest of the arrest of draft evaders from their community. Later on Thursday evening, a rally is planned outside Prison 10, featuring the participation of the Sanz Hasidic Rebbe and rabbis, protesting the detention of two draft evaders from the Sanz Hasidic group.
The Israeli police have announced potential traffic disruptions on Highway 4 in both directions, from Aluf Sadeh to Em HaMoshavot, and expect congestion and blockages on Jabotinsky Road in Bnei Brak. Authorities have advised the public to use alternative routes, stay updated on traffic conditions, and avoid these areas.
