15 Years Ago Today: Tens of Thousands Blackened Bnei Brak’s Streets at the Funeral of the Father of Yeshiva Students

Today marks 15 years since the 26th of Sivan 5771, when Maran Rosh Yeshiva HaGaon Rabbi Michal Yehuda Lifkovitz, zt”l, author of the "Minchat Yehuda" and one of the leaders of Haredi Jewry in the last generation, passed away to the heavenly yeshiva.

Tens of thousands took part in his funeral, which was held on the day of his death. The procession moved from his home on Vilkomir Street via the courtyard of his yeshiva, Ponevezh for Young Men, with the leaders and luminaries of the generation, zt”l and may they live long, בראשו בראשם, leading the way.
