Math Teacher at Prestigious Dan Region High School Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault of 12-Year-Old Student
A mathematics teacher in his twenties from Lod, employed at a prestigious high school in the Dan region, was arrested on Wednesday by Tel Aviv North police on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old female student. The alleged offenses reportedly occurred outside school hours. Following his arrest, the teacher was interrogated and denied the accusations. The Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court extended his detention by five days to allow further investigation.
The teacher's lawyer, Rotem Seri, stated that the contact was consensual but acknowledged issues related to the student's age. He emphasized that the case is in an early stage, with closed-door hearings and a gag order on the teacher's name. Seri expressed hope that the investigation will clarify the facts and prove the allegations unfounded.
The Ministry of Education condemned the allegations as severe and stated it has referred the matter to the Civil Service Commission to consider administrative measures. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are examining all aspects of the case.
