Out of 965 matches played from 1930 to the present in the world’s biggest tournament, 1-0 was the most common result, appearing 182 times, nearly 20 percent of all scores. 2-1 ranks second with 152 matches, nearly 16 percent of games. In third place is 2-0, with 111 instances and nearly 12 percent of all results.
Following them, in this order: 1-1, 0-0, 1-3, 0-3, 2-3, 2-2 and 1-4. In total, 33 different scorelines have been recorded in World Cup history. The most extreme scores, which appeared only once, were 3-5, 2-6, 2-7, 3-7, 5-6, 3-8, 1-10 and 5-7.
