Maccabi Haifa Releases Several Players Including Rafaelov Amid Squad Overhaul

Maccabi Haifa is undergoing a significant squad reduction as part of preparations for the upcoming season. Lior Rafaelov, the club's sporting director, held individual meetings with several players to inform them they are free to seek new teams and will not be part of the squad next season. The players notified include Mathias Nahuel, Shaw, Peter Agba, Tribenta Stewart, Daniel Golani, Goni Naor, and Dolev Haziza.

While most of these departures were expected, the decision regarding left-back Daniel Golani is surprising given the team's current shortage in that position. With long-term injuries to Pierre Cornu and Yinon Feingezicht, Maccabi Haifa is temporarily left without a natural left defender on the roster.

The club assured the released players that until they find new teams, they will continue to receive full contractual benefits including salary, housing, and transportation. They will also maintain full training schedules supported by the professional, physiological, and medical staff, with some sessions led by coach Barak Bachar. Dolev Haziza, however, will continue training with the first team due to his status and long-standing contributions to the club.
