Israeli Police Arrest Yossi Mosli in Extortion-Linked Attacks on Jafnika Chain
Israeli police have arrested Yossi Mosli, a Tel Aviv resident in his 40s, on suspicion of involvement in a series of violent attacks targeting branches of the Jafnika food chain. The attacks included shootings and grenade throws at Jafnika locations in Netanya, Afula, and Herzliya, causing property damage but no injuries. Mosli was detained by the Tel Aviv District Central Unit and is currently under investigation at the Tel Aviv Police Headquarters. He is scheduled to appear in the Magistrate's Court for a remand hearing. Authorities indicated the investigation is ongoing and further arrests are expected.
The attacks are believed to be linked to an extortion attempt involving criminal organizations Mosli and Jerushi. Barak Abramov, owner of the Jafnika chain, publicly stated that the attacks stemmed from his refusal to pay protection money, emphasizing his unwillingness to be extorted despite the risks. Investigations suggest some franchisees of Jafnika have connections to the Jerushi crime group, making the chain a target amid the conflict between these criminal factions. Police have clarified that Abramov himself is not suspected of any criminal activity.
The case highlights escalating tensions between organized crime groups in the Gush Dan and central Israel regions, with Jafnika caught in the crossfire due to its franchisees' alleged affiliations. The police continue to probe the matter, aiming to dismantle the extortion network and prevent further violence.
