Barakovich Deal to Buy Hapoel Nof HaGalil Collapses Over Financial Dispute

Former footballer Eyal Barakovich revealed on 103FM radio that his planned acquisition of Hapoel Nof HaGalil football club fell through due to last-minute financial disagreements. The negotiations with the city of Nof HaGalil, led by Mayor Ronen Plot, ended abruptly because of unresolved debts and failure to reach a monetary agreement. Barakovich shared that his brother Nir Barakovich, who was set to become the team's coach, was particularly disappointed by the collapse of the deal. "Nir is very upset because most of the deal was meant for him," Eyal said, adding that their sister called to report Nir was "furious." Eyal expressed a preference for his brother's temporary frustration over financial ruin for the family.

In recent weeks, Eyal Barakovich had been in advanced talks with the municipality to take over management rights of the club, which was relegated to Liga Alef last season. Fans had hoped the takeover would bring stability and revive the club, which has yet to prepare significantly for the upcoming season. The deal's failure leaves Hapoel Nof HaGalil in uncertainty, continuing its struggle since relegation.
