Nof HaGalil, which was relegated to Liga Alef, has appealed to the Israel Football Association to accelerate the handling of a case involving a player suspected of match-fixing. The club is acting while the wider investigation continues into the suspected manipulation of games.
The player's remand was extended until Monday, after which he is expected to be released to house arrest. According to a previous report by Sport5, the special unit in Lahav 433 that deals with crime, illegal gambling and corruption in football is in direct contact with the association and will pass over all the material in the case once the investigation is completed.
A senior club official said the team wants the disciplinary process moved forward as soon as possible, noting that Toto Cup matches are scheduled to begin on July 30. He said, "If the suspicion is proven and there is an indictment and point deduction, we will remain in the league. There have already been precedents."
