Children Celebrate Emotional Chumash Ceremony in Kiryat Belzamtov, Petah Tikva
In Kiryat Belzamtov, Petah Tikva, children of the Talmud Torah celebrated a heartfelt Chumash ceremony with great joy and enthusiasm. The event featured speeches by Rabbi Ephraim Fishel Motzen, the community's Av Beit Din, and the Miskoltz Rebbe, alongside an emotional address from the Talmud Torah director, Rabbi Yehoshua Glick. At the conclusion, each child received a Chumash Vayikra, followed by a spirited dance symbolizing the tradition of "pure ones coming on the shoulders of their ancestors."
This celebration is part of a series of recent Hasidic events commemorating significant occasions and milestones. Among them were memorial gatherings marking the ninth yahrzeit of the Rebbe of Union City, festive weddings and engagements within prominent Hasidic families, and visits by various rebbes to holy sites such as Meron and Lodmir. Notably, the Satmar Rebbe’s summer retreat in New York attracted many followers, and the Vizhnitz Rebbe of Beit Shemesh held a memorable Shabbat in Emmanuel, encouraging community growth.
In other news, a petition was filed to Israel’s Supreme Court by shochetim (ritual slaughterers) protesting the closure of the rabbinical slaughter school, which has hindered the appointment of new ritual slaughterers and affected livelihoods and kosher meat availability. Additionally, the Gur Rebbe visited the family of a recently deceased Hasidic leader to offer condolences, sharing poignant reflections on the loss.
The article also highlights various spiritual and communal activities, including a special tish (Hasidic gathering) by the Sadigura Rebbe in Jerusalem, a moving midday prayer session led by the Shevet Levi Rebbe during the Three Weeks mourning period, and the relocation of the Pshawar Hasidic Rebbe’s summer retreat to Essen, Germany, due to his wife’s health. These events reflect the vibrant and deeply rooted traditions within the Hasidic world across Israel and abroad.
