Israeli Supreme Court Denies Bail for Former NGO Head Accused of Sexual Offenses
The Israeli Supreme Court has upheld the prosecution's appeal, ruling that Haim Rotter, the former chairman of the "Hashomrim" association in Bnei Brak, will not be released to house arrest. This decision overturns a previous ruling by the district court that had ordered Rotter's release under electronic monitoring. Rotter faces charges of sexual offenses involving four young men. According to the indictment filed in July, Rotter abused his position as chairman of the association, a role he held for 15 years, to commit sexual offenses against the complainants between 2004 and 2009. The prosecution has charged him with multiple sexual crimes, including rape and indecent acts. One of the victims was 15 years old at the time of the assault.
