Jaffa's Masli Hummus Center Launches Lavish 'Hafla' Sharing Menu for Home Gatherings
The Masli Hummus Center, a longstanding hummus institution in Jaffa since the 1950s, has introduced a new "Hafla" menu designed for large, shareable meals at home. Founded by Elias from Lebanon and Mazal from Casablanca, Morocco, the family-run restaurant is now managed by their son Avi and grandson Elias, who maintain the secret Lebanese spice recipe passed down through generations.
The Hafla menu offers two main options catering to 3-4 people: a vegetarian platter priced at 180 shekels and a meat platter at 300 shekels. The vegetarian option includes half a kilo each of hummus and masabaha, tahini, chickpeas, Turkish salad, cauliflower in tahini, tabbouleh, a large chopped salad, 10 falafel balls, 5 fresh pitas, pickles, and 5 pieces of baklava for dessert. The meat version adds three chicken skewers, three kebab skewers, mujaddara, and fries alongside similar sides.
These platters are designed for easy sharing and are available for quick home delivery, making them ideal for spontaneous gatherings or family meals without the hassle of cooking. Beyond the Hafla menu, the restaurant is also known for its well-prepared mujaddara and a special Friday dish called maklouba, a flavorful rice and vegetable casserole often served with tahini, salad, and kebab skewers.
The Masli Hummus Center expanded last year with a new branch in the Azrieli Sarona complex in Tel Aviv, located at Kaplan 36. It operates daily, including Fridays from 8:00 to 17:00, and accepts orders for delivery and reservations via phone at 03-5036585. The new Hafla menu reflects the restaurant's commitment to authentic flavors and convenient, festive dining experiences at home.
