Defamation suit leads Eli Tsipori to stop using “Al Jazeera 12” for Channel 12
Eli Tsipori has pledged not to use the phrase “Al Jazeera 12” in reference to Channel 12 anymore, according to a mediation agreement reached recently between Channel 12 and Tsipori following a defamation lawsuit filed by Channel 12 against him. “The defendant reiterates and clarifies that he does not believe Channel 12 is actually Al Jazeera or that it has any connection to Al Jazeera,” the notice on the mediation settlement, submitted last night (Wednesday) for approval by the Tel Aviv District Court, said.
At the same time, in a Facebook post published by Tsipori today, he wrote: “I agreed not to call them Al Jazeera 12 anymore. So from now on they are Poison 12 or Poison Studios.” Channel 12 quickly framed this as a victory and wrote: “Following the defamation lawsuit filed against him by Channel 12, Eli Tsipori pledges not to use the phrase ‘Al Jazeera 12’ and reiterates that he does not believe Channel 12 is actually Al Jazeera or that it has any connection to Al Jazeera. His commitments were given the force of a ruling by the Tel Aviv District Court.”
