Extremists Ignite Fires and Disrupt Light Rail Construction in Jerusalem and Beit Shemesh
Police forces from the Jerusalem district, including riot police and border police, are currently responding to multiple disturbances in Jerusalem and Beit Shemesh. In Jerusalem, ultra-Orthodox protesters blocked roads near Bar Ilan and Zaks Junction, attempting to damage the light rail construction site. A police officer declared a public order disturbance and ordered the protesters to disperse. When the protesters ignored the orders, police used crowd control measures to restore order.
Simultaneously, in Beit Shemesh near Hadan Street, authorities received reports of traffic disruptions, road blockages, and deliberate fires set near the roadway. Jerusalem district forces arrived to restore order, but only two police officers were initially present and struggled to control the situation. The police continue to operate across several locations in the Jerusalem district to manage the unrest.
