Tel Aviv Man Charged with Brutal Stabbing of Father-in-Law in Home Attack
A 53-year-old Tel Aviv resident faces serious charges after allegedly attacking and stabbing his 68-year-old father-in-law multiple times in the latter's home on Etzel Street. According to the indictment, the suspect arrived armed with a stick and a knife, assaulted the victim in his bedroom, and stabbed him repeatedly in the chest and abdomen. The victim tried to defend himself and pleaded for his life, but the attacker inflicted three additional stab wounds before fleeing with the victim's mobile phone, preventing him from calling for help.
The elderly victim was forced to leave his apartment bleeding and shouting for assistance from passersby. He was hospitalized at Ichilov Medical Center for five days in the surgical intensive care unit due to multiple penetrating injuries. Evidence presented by the prosecution includes DNA of the victim found on the suspect's pants, eyewitness testimony from the victim and a paramedic, and the recovery of the victim's phone from the suspect upon arrest.
The suspect's wife, who is the victim's daughter, testified about the strained relationship between the two men and recalled a previous stabbing incident in 2015 involving her husband and father. The suspect's own statements contained contradictions regarding his visit and possession of the phone. The prosecution argues the suspect poses a high danger, noting he came prepared with weapons and fled after the attack, leaving the victim unable to summon help.
The state has requested the suspect be held in custody until the conclusion of legal proceedings. The Tel Aviv District Court is handling the case under charges of aggravated assault and stabbing.
