Israeli Influencer Shirly Levy Expresses Regret Over Prayer Mistakes and Honors Late Sister
Israeli social media influencer Shirly Levy recently revealed during a Torah lesson at her home that she had been reciting the morning blessings (Birkat HaShachar) incorrectly for years. In an Instagram video, she admitted to mispronouncing the words and expressed hope for divine forgiveness, saying, "What embarrassment, how many mistakes I made in the pronunciation of the words. I hope God will forgive me." She chose not to specify the exact errors but shared a YouTube link demonstrating the correct recitation.
Levy also used her platform to thank her followers who lit Shabbat candles in memory of her sister, Shiran Levy, who tragically died in a motorcycle accident in September last year. She described the spiritual support as powerful, stating, "What noise we are making in heaven. The Creator is pleased." Alongside her father, she performed the Havdalah ceremony and wished good news for the people of Israel.
Shiran Levy was killed in a fatal road accident in Rehovot while working as a delivery rider. Emergency responders confirmed her death at the scene due to severe head trauma. In January, the state prosecution filed a negligent homicide charge against the driver, Eyal Goldenberg. Since her sister's passing, Shirly Levy has shared her growing religious devotion, including family Torah study sessions dedicated to Shiran's memory. She recounted a poignant moment when she noticed the first chapter her sister marked in the Book of Psalms corresponded to the Hebrew date of her death, interpreting it as a sign from her sister's soul.
Levy is also making gradual efforts to observe Shabbat, adopting small changes such as refraining from using fire, music, phones, and elevators, emphasizing a slow and steady approach to these lifestyle adjustments.
