US Police Detain Passenger Over Snack Theft on Breeze Airways Flight

On June 7, a Breeze Airways domestic flight from Westchester County Airport in White Plains, New York, to Vero Beach, Florida, was delayed due to a security incident involving a passenger allegedly stealing snacks. The Airbus A220 flight MX-581 departed about an hour late at 8:30 p.m. and lasted approximately two and a half hours. Upon arrival in Vero Beach, passengers were asked to remain seated while police boarded the plane.

According to eyewitness accounts, officers immediately approached a middle-aged white man wearing a baseball cap and glasses. The man was handcuffed and escorted off the aircraft. Flight attendants had reported that the passenger took an item from the snack cart without permission, despite being told not to. The passenger was questioned on suspicion of theft but reportedly offered to pay for the snack and was subsequently released.

The incident caused confusion and delays during both takeoff and landing but was resolved without further escalation. No additional charges were reported, and the flight continued to its destination after the passenger's removal.
