Israeli Forces Seize Guns and Ammunition to Prevent Clan Violence in Negev
Israeli police, the Shin Bet, and the IDF thwarted an arms smuggling attempt along the Jordanian border, confiscating 36 handguns and 63 magazines. As part of Operation Iron Net, announced by the police commissioner, officers from the Rotem district in the southern region conducted two targeted operations to locate illegal weapons. These efforts resulted in the seizure of three handguns, 12 magazines, a rifle suspected to be stolen from the IDF, hundreds of bullets, and dozens of 9mm rounds.
Intelligence indicated plans for gunfire linked to an ongoing feud between two families in the Negev town of Ar'ara. Police detectives from the Ar'ara station, supported by Border Police's Unit Shahar 101, conducted a search that uncovered a handgun, a magazine, a rifle, and hundreds of bullets. These items were taken for further investigation at the Ar'ara station.
In a separate operation in the town of Lakiya, following reports of gunfire, police carried out extensive searches and found two concealed handguns and three magazines inside a residential compound. Concurrently, in Segev Shalom, forces discovered eight magazines, 240 bullets, and dozens of 9mm rounds buried in a residential area. The seizures aim to prevent further violence and maintain security in the region.
