Orel Dgani Signs One-Year Deal with Hapoel Petah Tikva Ahead of Training Camp
Hapoel Petah Tikva reversed its earlier decision not to continue with Orel Dgani and signed the veteran defender for another season. The 37-year-old, who played over 25 matches last season and helped his teams reach the upper playoff, accepted the offer after the club re-entered the top-tier league scene. Dgani praised coach Omer Peretz as a "football mind" and one of the best coaches he has worked with during his long career. He is set to join the team’s training camp starting tomorrow.
The departure of senior Israeli defender Itay Rotman to Hapoel Be'er Sheva left Peretz without an experienced local center-back. Although promising player Ido Tasa is expected to get playing time, the coach emphasized the need for an additional seasoned defender. So far, Petah Tikva has signed Roy Sasson, Avishai Cohen, Yazan Nasser, Karim Kimbidi, Harel Shalom, Guy Badash, and retained Alex Musonda.
The team will depart for a training camp in Bulgaria on Sunday, where they will play three matches against two local teams and Bnei Yehuda. Dgani’s arrival is anticipated to bolster the squad’s defensive options ahead of the new season.
