Police Vehicle Hits Cat in Jaljulia Village, Officers Do Not Stop to Assist

Security footage from the village of Jaljulia in central Israel captured a police vehicle running over a cat during the night between Thursday and Friday. According to local residents, the officers did not stop to provide aid. Witnesses reported that six police vehicles passed through the village, with the first vehicle hitting the cat. Four more vehicles followed without stopping, and a sixth vehicle reportedly struck the injured cat again. A witness told ynet that despite shouting at the officers and calling the emergency number 100, no assistance was given. Residents expressed distress over the incident, noting the cat was a familiar animal in the community. Another resident criticized the police, highlighting recent arrests related to animal abuse and questioning why the officers did not stop in this case. The community demanded an explanation for the police conduct and questioned whether continuing to drive without stopping was justified, even if the officers were responding to another incident. The police responded that the event has been reported and is under investigation by the appropriate authorities, and any misconduct will be addressed accordingly.
