Golani Brigade Destroys Large Hezbollah Weapons Caches in Southern Lebanon

In a focused operational activity conducted in recent days within the security zone in southern Lebanon, the Golani Brigade combat team, under the command of Division 36, located and destroyed extensive weapons caches belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organization. The caches included launchers, machine guns, explosives, missiles, and other weapons intended to target Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) troops and Israeli civilians. The forces systematically eliminated the discovered weapons to remove immediate threats to northern Israeli residents.

According to the IDF, these weapons infrastructures were developed over many years by Hezbollah with Iranian funding and guidance, aiming to threaten Israel's sovereignty. This operation is part of a series of recent IDF actions in the security zone. Previously, Division 91 uncovered a fortified underground network in Majdal Zun, including living quarters, missile shafts aimed at Israel, and dozens of weapons. In a complex operation involving Combat Team 551 and the Engineering Unit, hundreds of meters of tunnels were destroyed.

Additionally, the IDF targeted four suspects approaching the security zone near Al-Aqida in Lebanon. A vehicle identified as a threat was struck by the Israeli Air Force after being detected. The IDF spokesperson emphasized the army's commitment to continue removing all threats and prevent Hezbollah from harming Israeli civilians. The operational activity continues with full intensity, ensuring the safety of residents in the Galilee and northern Israel.

Defense Minister Israel Katz recently stated that Israel operates independently in Lebanon without requiring approval from any external entity, asserting Israel's right and duty to protect its citizens from Hezbollah's jihadist threats. IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir noted that the IDF currently controls key surface and underground areas in the Bofor ridge, highlighting that Hezbollah's decades-long threat, backed by Iran, has been exhausted and defeated in every encounter with Israeli forces. The IDF will persist in systematically locating and destroying additional Hezbollah terror infrastructures as long as threats to Israeli civilians remain.
