Floods in Southern China Release 900 Venomous and Non-Venomous Snakes, Including Cobras
Severe flooding in Guangxi province, southern China, has caused significant damage to a local snake breeding farm, resulting in the escape of approximately 900 snakes, including venomous cobras. The floods partially destroyed the facility in a nearby village, allowing hundreds of both venomous and non-venomous snakes to flee into the surrounding area. Social media footage showed snakes swimming in floodwaters and roaming freely.
Reports indicate that some local residents have already been bitten by the escaped snakes, raising public safety concerns. In response, local authorities have launched a rescue and capture operation to locate and contain the snakes to prevent further incidents. Officials have urged residents to remain vigilant and avoid contact with any snakes until the operation is completed.
