Israeli Reservist Caught Supplying Assault Rifle to Masked Man in Rahat

A serious indictment was filed this week against two residents of Rahat, including an Israeli Arab reservist soldier, who unlawfully removed a military weapon from his base and handed it over to another individual. The two were caught red-handed by police holding a loaded M-16 assault rifle and a large quantity of ammunition. The reservist, 21-year-old Ma'asi Karinawi, was authorized to hold the rifle only within the military base, but he took it outside to Rahat's Neighborhood 17. There, he met with 20-year-old Fahad Alkarinawi and a third unidentified man inside a car. The three held the loaded rifle with 29 bullets in the magazine, plus seven additional magazines and two boxes of ammunition totaling around 170 bullets. While the reservist sat in the driver's seat, Fahad and the third man, both masked, exited the vehicle with the rifle ready to fire. Police on patrol noticed the suspicious activity and ordered them to stop. Fahad and the third man fled on foot, with Fahad dropping the rifle during the chase before being arrested. The reservist was detained in the car, but the third suspect escaped. The indictment reveals the weapon was likely intended for criminal use.
