Hapoel Tel Aviv Offers Tomer Ginat $1 Million Per Season to Stay
Hapoel Tel Aviv is making a significant effort to retain forward Tomer Ginat ahead of the next season, after he requested to leave the club at the end of the current season. The club has presented Ginat with a new four-year contract offer averaging about $1 million per season. According to club sources, the contract would allow Ginat to exit early if his role does not improve. Currently, Ginat is set to earn approximately $800,000 in the upcoming season under his existing contract, which expires after that season.
Ginat has struggled with a long-term injury this season, and his playing time in the EuroLeague had been decreasing even before that. After his request to leave, coach Dimitris Itoudis spoke with him to persuade him to stay, followed by involvement from club owner Ofer Yanai. The club has made it clear that they will not release Ginat from his contract now, leaving the player to decide whether to remain under his current terms and become a free agent after next season or accept the improved financial offer with exit options.
Meanwhile, Hapoel has yet to finalize the signing of guard Tamir Blatt, who has agreed to a three-year deal worth $5 million. However, a club staff member revealed ongoing internal doubts about the deal, while Blatt’s side considers the agreement finalized and expressed surprise at the club’s hesitations.
