Australian Man Critically Burned in Robot Vacuum Explosion at Home

In Australia, 25-year-old Lachie Pram suffered burns over approximately 75% of his body following an explosion caused by a robot vacuum cleaner in his kitchen. The incident occurred at his home in Baldivis, northeast of Perth. Emergency responders rushed him to Fiona Stanley Hospital in Perth, where he remains in critical condition under sedation after undergoing several emergency surgeries.

Investigators believe the fire started due to a malfunction in the robot vacuum, though the specific model involved has not been disclosed. The explosion also caused damage to the living room and shattered windows. Lachie's mother, Fiona Pram, described the event as a tragic turning point for the family, noting that the home is currently uninhabitable.

Fiona plans to travel from Queensland to be by her son's bedside and revealed that Lachie, his fiancée Lucky, and their housemates have lost their home. She emphasized the long road ahead involving multiple surgeries, extensive medical treatment, rehabilitation, and months of recovery. To support the family with living expenses and medical costs, Fiona launched a GoFundMe campaign which raised over $27,000 within the first 48 hours. She expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support, saying it gives the family strength during this difficult time.
