Singer Shay Hember Shares Trauma of Complicated Birth of First Son
Singer Shay Hember and her husband Nadav Sivan welcomed their first son, Kerem, about five months ago. Although Hember had planned a natural water birth, complications arose during labor that led to an emergency cesarean section. In her first interview as a mother on the show "Good Night with Guy Pines," she recounted the dramatic moments surrounding the birth and the emotional aftermath.
Hember described entering the experience with innocence and confidence, influenced by her mother who had six children while maintaining a career. However, during labor she developed a high fever and infection, which caused medical staff to intervene urgently. "All my vital signs went haywire," she said, explaining how doctors noticed abnormal fetal monitoring and decided to move her to surgery.
She recalled the tense moments in the operating room, hearing silence instead of her newborn's cry, as Kerem was taken for emergency care to stabilize his condition. The first meeting with her son was filled with joy but also shock and pain, both physical and emotional. "It could have ended differently in seconds," she reflected.
Hember channeled her difficult experience and postpartum struggles into a new song titled "Everything and Nothing at Once," which portrays the isolation and pressure many new mothers feel despite outward appearances. She highlighted the contrast between social media portrayals of perfect motherhood and the raw reality she faced.
Her story sheds light on the unpredictable nature of childbirth and the complex emotions mothers endure during and after traumatic deliveries.
