Israeli Police Shut Down Ashdod Event Hall for Concealing Violent Incident and Evidence
Israeli police issued a 30-day administrative closure order on an event hall in Ashdod after its owner failed to report a serious violent incident that occurred on the premises. The altercation took place last Thursday evening, involving multiple individuals, but the business owner did not notify the police as required by licensing conditions. During the investigation, authorities discovered that the venue's surveillance system was not made available, and the DVR device containing footage of the incident was missing.
All individuals involved in the fight were located and questioned, while police enforcement and inspection actions were carried out. Following these findings, a hearing was held with the business owner by the licensing officer from the Eilat police station, Chief Inspector Shafi, alongside a licensing inspector. The closure was imposed under Section 23A of the Business Licensing Law due to failure to report violence, evidence tampering, and license violations.
This enforcement follows a recent police crackdown in Ashdod about two months ago, where three suspects were arrested for violent crimes, drug trafficking, and other criminal activities. Large quantities of suspected drugs were seized during that operation, including at the residence of one suspect where two others were found. The police continue to monitor and act against illegal activities in the city.
