Maccabi Tel Aviv Nears Official Signing of Yam Madar After Medical Clearance

Yam Madar agreed to join Maccabi Tel Aviv on a three-year contract with an option for two additional years two days ago, but the club has yet to officially announce the deal. The delay is reportedly due to bureaucratic insurance issues rather than medical concerns, as Madar successfully completed comprehensive medical tests, including an examination of his knee, which had caused him to miss significant time last season. The club expects to finalize and present the signing in the coming days.

Madar, 25, stands 1.90 meters tall and began his career at Hapoel Tel Aviv's youth system, quickly becoming a key player upon joining the senior team. He led Israel's under-20 national team to the 2019 European Championship and was selected 47th overall in the 2020 NBA Draft by Boston. After two years with Partizan Belgrade, where he was named the EuroLeague Young Player of the Year in 2022-23, Madar signed with Fenerbahçe in 2023 before moving to Bayern Munich. His stint in Germany was less successful, with inconsistent playing time, leading to his return to Israel in December 2024 with a lucrative contract at Hapoel Tel Aviv. In April 2025, he helped the team win the EuroCup but did not secure any domestic titles.
