Actor Daniel Gad Releases New Single Ahead of Documentary Premiere on Local Football Rivalry

Israeli actor Daniel Gad, known for his roles in the TV series "Shababnikim," "The Pier," and "Galis," released a new single titled "You Will Always Walk With Me" on Tuesday morning. The song, co-written and composed by Gad alongside Or Milstock and Omri Kastan, features a blend of hip-hop and Mediterranean music elements. It was produced by Shauli Yitzhak and Or Kodai. This single serves as the lead track from Gad's upcoming second EP.

"You Will Always Walk With Me" is also the theme song for Gad's documentary film "The Last Derby - Sha'arayim vs. Marmorek," which he directed and created. The documentary explores the sports and cultural rivalry between two football clubs from Gad's childhood neighborhoods in Rehovot, Maccabi Sha'arayim and Hapoel Marmorek. It highlights the stories of the local fans and community "parliaments," while also reflecting Gad's personal connection as the son of a former prominent Maccabi Sha'arayim player.

A central focus of the film is the impact of a new municipal stadium, costing approximately 150 million shekels, on the distinct identities of the two clubs and their longstanding community legacy spanning seven decades. Produced by Naoi Pro and the Rogovin brothers, the documentary is scheduled to premiere on July 16 at 9:30 PM on Kan 11 and Kan BOX.

Gad, who released his debut album "Davar VeHipucho" about a year ago, described this project as his first major step into creation and directing after years of acting. Through the documentary, he aims to portray the human and social story of his hometown through the lens of football.
