Daniel Gad Releases New EP Dedicated to Footballer Father

Israeli actor and musician Daniel Gad has released a new three-song EP titled "Pele of the Neighborhood." The EP marks his second musical release, following his debut album "Davar Ve'hipucho" a year ago. The title track, also named "Pele of the Neighborhood," was co-written and composed by Gad, Amir Benayoun, and Avi Ohayon. This song is a personal tribute from Gad to his father, Simcha Gad, a former player for the Israeli national team and Maccabi Sha'arayim.

Gad described the song as stemming from his close relationship with his father, shared memories, their favorite places, and their similarities and differences. Amir Benayoun also provides vocals on the track, with musical production and arrangements by Shmulik Daniel. The lyrics recall simple family moments, such as Friday market walks, football games, and the advice his father gave him, likening him to "the neighborhood Pele."

The EP also features "Leolam Titzadi Iti" (You Will Always Walk With Me), the theme song for the documentary "The Last Derby - Sha'arayim vs. Marmorek," which Gad recently created and directed. The third song on the EP is "Shnayim Yachdav" (Two Together), a collaboration with Omer "Jimbo J" Jay.

Gad expressed gratitude for the warm reception to his directorial debut and the theme song, calling it a time of "gratitude and great excitement." He also highlighted his appreciation for his collaborators, Benayoun, Ohayon, and Jay.

Beyond his music career, Gad is known for his acting roles, including in "Shababniks," the Oscar-nominated film "Ein Levanah," and the series "HaMazach." He has also appeared in "HaHamam," "Galis," "BOY-O," "HaShotrim," and "Susi Pra." Gad has been developing his music career concurrently with his acting work, launching his first album with a performance at the Tel Aviv Heichal HaTarbut.
