Crime Figure Aryeh Alperon Released Under Restrictions After Judge Threat Allegations
Aryeh Alperon, a 59-year-old reputed crime family leader from Zichron Yaakov, was released on Monday under restrictive conditions following his arrest on Sunday by Hadera police. The arrest stemmed from allegations that Alperon threatened a judge at the Hadera Magistrate's Court after the judge refused to meet with him outside the courtroom during Alperon's ongoing trial. Police stated that Alperon attempted to contact the judge outside the court premises and issued threats when the judge declined.
Following the incident, Hadera police detained Alperon for questioning. On Monday morning, he appeared before the Haifa Magistrate's Court where prosecutors requested a five-day extension of his detention. Alperon vehemently denied the accusations, asserting he never threatened or intended harm toward the judge.
Judge Boris Sherman reviewed the investigation materials and rejected the police's request to extend Alperon's detention. While acknowledging there was reasonable suspicion of a crime, the judge emphasized the suspicion's low intensity. Consequently, Alperon was released under conditions that prohibit him from entering the Hadera Magistrate's Court for 30 days.
