Israeli Hostage Survivor Swims in Memorial Relay Honoring Fallen Hero Eden Nimri
During the Maccabiah Games, a special memorial swim was held at Beit Yerah on the Sea of Galilee to honor Captain Eden Nimri, who heroically saved 17 female soldiers during a fierce battle at Nahal Oz on October 7 before falling in combat. Seventeen swimmers participated, symbolizing the exact number of soldiers Nimri saved.
Among the participants was Naama Levi, a former observation post soldier at Nahal Oz and a survivor of a 477-day Hamas captivity after being abducted that same day. She swam alongside her mother, Dr. Ayelet Levi, marking a poignant moment in the ceremony.
Eden Nimri was not only a distinguished swimmer who represented Israel internationally but also a combat team commander in the "Sky Rider" unit. She fought bravely against dozens of terrorists in an armored vehicle during the battle, sacrificing her life to protect her comrades.
Eden's parents, Sharon and Michael Nimri, expressed deep emotion over the tribute, emphasizing that her legacy of excellence, courage, humanity, and selflessness continues to inspire athletes in Israel and abroad. The memorial swim serves as a powerful reminder of her sacrifice and enduring influence.
