Israeli Tourists Verbally Attacked in Plav, Montenegro Amid Tensions
Israeli tourists visiting the town of Plav in northeastern Montenegro were verbally harassed by a man and a woman. The incident, recorded by the man who confronted the group, quickly spread on social media and drew widespread attention. During the confrontation, the tourists were subjected to harsh remarks, including accusations of genocide and calls for them to remain in Israel rather than travel abroad.
One of the Israeli tourists attempted to de-escalate the situation by urging the man to walk away and avoid further conflict, saying, "Keep walking, don’t talk to us," and "You don’t know me." Another member of the group advised in Hebrew to ignore the provocations. Despite these efforts, the man continued to verbally attack the group, personally accusing one tourist’s mother of killing children and labeling the Israelis as "baby killers" and perpetrators of genocide. The woman accompanying him also shouted that the tourists should be ashamed.
Plav is located in a mountainous region near the borders with Albania and Kosovo and is part of the Sanjak area, known for its significant Muslim population. The incident highlights underlying ethnic and political tensions in this culturally diverse region of Montenegro.
