Four Arrested in Ashdod for Stealing Smuggled Cigarettes Worth 26 Million Shekels
Four residents of Ashdod were arrested this morning on suspicion of stealing smuggled cigarettes from a private warehouse in the Israel Ports Industrial Park. Authorities suspect that last month the suspects stole over 2,000 cartons of cigarettes using trucks that entered the facility, allegedly with the assistance of an employee working there. The estimated value of the unpaid taxes on the stolen cigarettes is approximately 26 million shekels. The suspects are scheduled to appear today at the Ashkelon Magistrate's Court for a hearing to extend their detention.
