Border Police Officer Appointed to Command Platoon at IDF Officer School for First Time
For the first time since the Border Police's establishment, an officer from the unit has been appointed to command a platoon at Bahad 1, the Israel Defense Forces' primary officer training school. Lieutenant Colonel Eitan Amsalem, recently promoted and honored in a ceremony with the Border Police commander, will lead a platoon in the "Lehav" track, which trains combat land officers including Border Police cadets.
This unprecedented appointment marks a historic milestone for the Border Police, reflecting high recognition of its commanders' professional, operational, and leadership capabilities. The move also underscores the ongoing close cooperation between the Border Police and the IDF, both operationally and in developing the next generation of commanders.
Although Amsalem will command a platoon at Bahad 1, he will remain organizationally affiliated with the Border Police's military school under the commanders' branch, continuing to contribute to the unit's leadership development. This appointment highlights the Border Police's growing role and central position in shaping Israel's future security leadership.
