Border Police Officer Appointed First Platoon Commander at IDF Officer School
In a historic milestone for the Israeli Border Police, Lieutenant Colonel Eitan Amsalem has been appointed as the first Border Police officer to command a platoon at Bahad 1, the IDF's Officer Training School. Starting with the upcoming officer training cycle, a Border Police officer will officially serve as a platoon commander in the "Lehav" track at Bahad 1, which is responsible for training combat ground officers, including Border Police officers undergoing military officer training.
Amsalem was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel (equivalent to an IDF Major) this week during a special ceremony led by the Border Police commander and senior leadership. The defense establishment highlighted that this appointment reflects high recognition and appreciation for the professional, operational, and leadership capabilities of Border Police commanders, who lead combat operations across various sectors.
This development also symbolizes the ongoing close cooperation between the Border Police, the IDF, and Bahad 1, both in operational field activities and in training the next generation of security force commanders in Israel.
