At Least 50 Houthi Fighters Killed in Intense Clashes with Yemeni Government Forces
At least fifty Houthi fighters have been killed and dozens more wounded in fierce battles with Yemeni government forces in the southern part of Hudaydah province, western Yemen. These clashes represent the most violent confrontations since the military ceasefire between the government and the Houthis began in April 2022.
Walid al-Qudaimi, a minister in the Yemeni government, reported that the intense fighting took place on the Jabal Dubas front, north of the city of Hays. The battles resulted in over 50 Houthi fatalities and dozens injured. At least 15 government soldiers were also killed during the confrontations.
Al-Qudaimi confirmed that the Houthi group continues to carry out "suicide attacks" on government positions in attempts to break through into areas in southern Hudaydah. The ongoing violence underscores the fragile nature of the ceasefire and the persistent instability in the region.
