Masked Thieves Steal €4 Million Worth of Jewelry from French Museum
Around 20 pieces of jewelry valued at approximately four million euros were stolen from the Rene Lalique Museum in eastern France, dedicated to the renowned glass and jewelry artist. According to a source familiar with the investigation, masked intruders broke through the entrance door and smashed six display cases containing crystal jewelry. The stolen items are crystal pieces without precious stones and cannot be melted down.
The museum's alarm was triggered, but while the security company was verifying the alert, the cleaner who arrived first at the scene was the one who called the police. Despite the museum being classified as a sensitive site following a 2025 robbery at the Louvre Museum, the protection system was reportedly insufficient to prevent the theft.
