Adele Opens Up About Her Singing Career and Formula 1 Passion Inspired by Son
Adele, the 38-year-old British singer, rarely gives interviews, especially when not promoting new music. This week, she broke her usual silence by visiting the McLaren Racing headquarters, where she met CEO and former driver Zak Brown, as well as drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. The reason for her unexpected visit and interview was her 13-year-old son Angelo's passion for motorsports, which sparked her own interest in Formula 1. Adele shared that Angelo is obsessed with karting and racing, and she tries to encourage his enthusiasm, noting, "I don’t know many teenagers with such passion, so I really try to support it." She also revealed that their shared interest has created a unique bond, even leading to debates about drivers, something she did not expect with her teenage son.
Angelo is Adele's son from her marriage to Simon Konecki, which ended in 2021 after three years. Adele is now married to talent agent Rich Paul. Last year, she attended the US Grand Prix and took photos with drivers George Russell and Andrea Kimi Antonelli. While her interest in racing has grown, her music career appears less active. Her last album was released in 2021, with previous albums also spaced out over several years.
In the interview, Adele admitted she rarely sings anymore and finds it almost absurd that her job is to be a singer. She expressed discomfort with the publicity side of her career and described her success as unexpected, saying she always imagined managing artists rather than becoming one herself. She acknowledged her unlikely rise from Tottenham to global stardom and indicated no new album is imminent.
