Ta'al Criticizes Hadash Over Joint List Dispute Ahead of Israeli Elections
The Central Committee of the Ta'al party has publicly criticized Hadash and its secretary-general, Amjad Shbita, over disagreements related to forming a joint Arab electoral list for the upcoming Knesset elections. Ta'al accused Hadash of undermining the trust built between the two parties since 2015 by promoting a secret agreement with Balad without transparency. The committee expressed concern that Shbita’s public criticism of Ta'al, alongside advancing a pre-election deal with Balad, contradicts the spirit of mutual respect and partnership that has historically defined their relationship.
Ta'al reaffirmed its willingness to continue negotiations among the three Arab parties, Ta'al, Hadash, and Balad, but emphasized that any future agreement must be based on full partnership, transparency, and shared responsibility. The party demanded that Hadash disclose the details of its agreement with Balad, citing transparency as a fundamental principle for any political alliance.
This dispute emerges amid a broader stalemate in efforts to form a unified Arab list, following failed talks with Ra'am. The divisions between Ta'al, Hadash, and Balad raise concerns about a potential split that could reduce voter turnout in the Arab community and result in lost votes in the upcoming elections.
