Bristol City Targets Maccabi Haifa Defender Lisav Issat for Championship Move

Bristol City, a club competing in the English Championship, has expressed interest in signing Lisav Issat, a central defender currently playing for Maccabi Haifa. Issat has attracted attention recently after a breakthrough season where he established himself as a key defensive player. Previously, several Romanian league clubs showed interest in Issat, but he preferred to move to a higher-tier league following his strong performances.

In the 2025-2026 season, Issat made 33 appearances for Maccabi Haifa across the Israeli Premier League, domestic cup competitions, and UEFA Conference League qualifiers, scoring one goal and providing two assists. Less than a year ago, he chose to represent Romania internationally, receiving his official FIFA registration under the Romanian Football Federation in 2025. He has since been called up to both the senior and youth Romanian national teams.

Bristol City finished 12th in the Championship last season and were eliminated in the fourth round of the FA Cup and the second round of the League Cup. Their manager, Michael Skubala, has yet to sign any defenders in the current 2026 summer transfer window, making Issat a potential target to strengthen their backline.

This development suggests Issat could soon become another Israeli league player moving abroad to a competitive European league, continuing the trend of Israeli talent seeking opportunities in England's second tier.
