Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 7 Delivers Reliable Business Performance with Subtle Design Updates
Lenovo continues to maintain its strong presence in the computing market with the latest iteration of its popular business laptop series, the ThinkPad T14 Gen 7. This new model introduces a notable color change to a dark blue, dubbed Cosmic Blue, departing from the traditional all-black ThinkPad design. The laptop's chassis is made from reinforced polycarbonate with carbon fiber or glass fibers, providing durability despite an initial plastic-like feel.
The ThinkPad T14 Gen 7 retains the classic square design and offers a balanced size and weight at about 1.3 kilograms for the 14-inch model tested. It features a full keyboard known for its comfort, a large touchpad with three mouse buttons, and the signature red TrackPoint joystick. The power button is separated from the keyboard and doubles as a fingerprint reader. Connectivity is comprehensive, including two USB-C ports (which also support charging), HDMI, USB-A ports, a SIM card slot on some models, LAN port, headphone jack, and a card reader.
A significant behind-the-scenes improvement is the laptop's repairability, earning a perfect 10 out of 10 score from iFixit, making it easier to service and replace parts. The tested unit is equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 5 335 processor, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage, which Lenovo says is sufficient for most users’ daily tasks, including light photo and video editing and AI applications.
The display is bright and readable even in sunlight and supports touch input. However, the speakers are a weak point, producing subpar sound quality compared to other Lenovo models. Battery life supports a full workday with fast charging capabilities, reaching 50% charge in about 20 minutes and full charge in just over an hour.
Overall, the ThinkPad T14 Gen 7 is described as a dependable and efficient business laptop that performs quietly and smoothly without unnecessary frills. The tested base model costs nearly 7,000 shekels, with higher-end configurations reaching between 10,000 and 13,000 shekels. More affordable Lenovo options are available for those not requiring the latest Intel processors.
