Ex-Hostage Eli Cohen and Ziv Avud Celebrate Henna Ceremony Ahead of August Wedding
Eli Cohen, a former Israeli hostage, and his partner Ziv Avud held an emotional henna ceremony on Wednesday, about six weeks before their wedding scheduled for August 19. Cohen, 27, was kidnapped on October 7, 2023, after hiding with Avud in a fortified shelter known as the "death shelter." Avud survived by hiding beneath bodies for nearly three hours during the attack that also involved hostages Or Levi and Hirsch Goldberg-Polin. Cohen was held captive for 505 days before his release. During his captivity, Cohen believed Avud had been killed in the shelter, but she survived and actively supported efforts for his release. Cohen proposed to Avud in a touching moment last October. The henna ceremony was produced by Moran Spiegel, with design by Kinneret Henna and Gina La'arusa. The couple is preparing for their wedding in August.
