Israeli Hostage Survivor Eli-H Cohen Celebrates Pre-Wedding Henna Ceremony
Eli-H Cohen, an Israeli who survived 505 days in Hamas captivity, recently celebrated a henna ceremony with his fiancée, Ziv Avod, ahead of their upcoming wedding. The event was held with family and friends and marked by a special moment when Cohen wore a unique galabiya inscribed with the phrase "Thank you, Dad," a message that supported him throughout his captivity in Gaza. The garment, designed by Kinneret Henna & Gina, was adapted from a traditional piece worn by grooms during the war, which originally bore the phrase "bring them home." Cohen explained that the new inscription reflects the relief that no Israelis remain captive in Gaza.
Cohen was abducted by Hamas militants during the Nova party attack on October 7. During his captivity, he feared his fiancée had not survived the deadly shelter attack, but he later learned she was alive and actively advocating for his release. In October, shortly after his return to Israel, Cohen proposed to Avod. Their wedding is planned for August.
This henna ceremony symbolizes not only their personal commitment but also the broader hope and resilience of those affected by the conflict.
