Israeli Teen Critically Injured in Bulgaria Water Accident Involving Inflatable Banana Boat

Three Israeli youths were injured in a water accident near the Black Sea resort town of Aheloy, Bulgaria, when an inflatable "banana" boat attached to a speedboat capsized. One 17-year-old Israeli boy suffered a severe head injury and is in critical condition, with doctors fighting to save his life. His father remains by his side at a hospital in Burgas, and attempts to airlift the teen to Israel were deemed impossible due to his medical state. The Israeli Foreign Ministry is aware of the incident, and the local consul is in contact with the family.

A total of six people were injured in the accident, including the three Israeli youths. Local authorities have launched an investigation after reports indicated the water sports club operating the inflatable device was unlicensed and violated safety regulations. The Bulgarian Ministry of Transport confirmed that the operator of the facility lacked the necessary certification and permits to conduct such activities. The ministry stated the equipment was used contrary to regulatory safety requirements but noted there is no evidence the beach concessionaire was aware of the illegal operations.

Authorities indicated that personal sanctions are likely against the operator of the inflatable device for lacking proper documentation. Additionally, a fine will be imposed on the concessionaire, and the Ministry of Tourism will be informed of the safety violations. The investigation is ongoing as local officials seek to determine full responsibility for the incident.
