Israeli Teen Critically Injured in Bulgarian Water Attraction Accident Under Investigation

Bulgarian authorities are investigating a serious accident involving a water attraction near Aheloy beach that left a 17-year-old Israeli boy critically injured. The incident occurred when six youths were thrown from an inflatable "banana boat" being towed by a jet ski. The Israeli teenager suffered a severe head injury after hitting coastal rocks and remains in critical condition in the intensive care unit at Burgas University Hospital with a skull fracture. Doctors are continuing efforts to save his life.

Aheloy Mayor Dimitar Naychev stated that investigators are considering two main scenarios: either the inflatable detached and drifted into shallow waters where it struck rocks, or the jet ski made a sharp turn causing several riders to fall into the water, with the teenager sustaining the most serious injuries. The exact cause is still under investigation, and no direct eyewitnesses have been identified. Post-accident inspections revealed multiple violations, including the water attraction lacking required permits and the jet ski operator not having legally mandated qualifications.

In addition to the critically injured teen, two other Israeli tourists sustained minor injuries. Authorities continue to probe the circumstances to determine how the accident happened and whether criminal charges will be filed against the operator, who has been detained. The investigation aims to clarify the responsibility and prevent future incidents at the site.
