Ohio Family Arrested After 16 Children Rescued From Horrific Living Conditions

In a disturbing case in Ohio, four family members were arrested after 16 children, aged 18 months to 18 years, were rescued from a home in Medan, about 100 kilometers southeast of Columbus. The children were found in appalling conditions requiring urgent medical care, with some in critical condition. Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson described the situation as the worst he has encountered in his career, calling it "pure evil." Two children were airlifted to a Level 1 trauma center due to severe injuries, and Wilson warned that waiting another 24 hours could have resulted in fatalities.

Winton County Sheriff Ryan Kane revealed that the house was filled with feces and biological waste, stating that most livestock are kept in better conditions than these children. The four suspects, Gary Siders Sr., Gary Siders Jr., Christina Siders, and Elizabeth Siders, face 16 counts of second-degree child endangerment. They pleaded not guilty and were each granted bail set at $300,000.

District Attorney William Archer clarified that this was an internal family dispute and not related to human trafficking, assuring the public that no other children in the area are at risk.
