Revital Smotrich Opens Up on Son’s Injury, Chronic Illness, and Life Amid Conflict

Revital Smotrich, wife of Finance Minister and Religious Zionist Party leader Bezalel Smotrich, spoke candidly in a Channel 7 interview about the challenges her family has faced during ongoing military operations and her personal health battle. She described the tense reality of living in a secured home in Kedumim, frequently evacuated during military campaigns, including a harrowing night evacuation when her children resisted leaving due to disrupted routines.

Smotrich recounted the difficulties of relocating her family multiple times between hotels in Jerusalem under threat, while her husband was deeply engaged in managing the conflict. She highlighted the psychological toll of returning home to an unsafe environment and the struggle to restore a sense of security for her children.

The family faced a critical moment when their son Binyamin was seriously wounded in Lebanon during fighting. Alone with four young children in a hotel, Revital made the agonizing decision not to travel to her injured son before Shabbat, prioritizing the safety and emotional stability of her other children. She later learned that a missed call was from Binyamin himself, who had tried to reach her to avoid alarming his wife.

Alongside these family crises, Smotrich revealed her long battle with fibromyalgia, a chronic pain condition that nearly overwhelmed her amid the stress of recent years. She has since taken steps to reduce her workload, stepping back from community charity leadership to focus on her health and family.
