Google Launches Fast Image Model Nano Banana 2 Lite and Gemini Omni Flash Video Tool

Google has introduced Nano Banana 2 Lite, a new fast image generation model, alongside a public preview of Gemini Omni Flash, a multimedia model for video creation and editing. These models target developers and creators, enabling workflows that combine rapid image generation with video production and editing through natural language commands. Nano Banana 2 Lite, also known as gemini-3.1-flash-lite-image, is optimized for high-volume use where speed and cost efficiency are critical. It can generate a 1K resolution image in about four seconds at a cost of $0.034 per 1,000 images. The model improves text instruction comprehension, maintains character consistency, and better integrates readable text within images. It is accessible via Google AI Studio and Gemini API and will gradually be integrated into consumer Google services such as Gemini, Google Photos, NotebookLM, Google Flow, and Google Ads.

Simultaneously, Google has released Gemini Omni Flash in a public developer preview. This model enables video creation and editing by combining text, images, and existing videos. Key features include conversational video editing through text commands, multi-source input integration, and visual consistency across images, text, and motion. The usage cost is $0.10 per second of video, with current video length limited to 10 seconds. Gemini Omni Flash is available through Gemini API and Google AI Studio. These launches position Google in direct competition with other AI companies' image and video generation models, emphasizing speed, low cost, and deeper integration within Google's development environment and services.
