Police Seek Public Help to Find 14-Year-Old from Ramat Gan
A young Haredi boy, 14, from Ramat Gan is missing. According to a police statement, his center of life is in Jerusalem. Police are now appealing to the public for urgent assistance in locating the teenager, who has been missing from Ramat Gan.
The missing boy is Yechiel Michael Chaim, 14, a resident of the city whose center of life is in Jerusalem. Police forces have been working in recent hours to find him and are asking the public to help in the search efforts.
According to the police spokesperson’s announcement, the missing boy is 1.65 meters tall, has a dark complexion, and black hair with sidelocks. He wears a kippah, but his clothing description is not known at this stage. Police emphasize that every detail, even if it seems small, may be significant in locating the missing boy and bringing him home safely.
As is known, in Israel there are hundreds of missing-person cases every year, some of which are resolved quickly and others that require prolonged search efforts. Just a few months ago, the Knesset approved a law to assist families of missing persons, aimed at promoting support for the families of the missing and outlining cooperation between state authorities. During the Knesset debate, it was revealed that about 600 citizens have been missing in Israel since the המדינה was founded. Gitti Kleinerman, the mother of Moshe Kleinerman, who has been missing for about four years, said during that debate, "The most terrible feeling is that despite all the advanced technology, my son is missing and no one knows where he is, and those who helped us were citizens, not the state."
In recent weeks, there have been several missing-person cases in the Haredi community. Just a few days ago, 70-year-old Rachel Mendlovitz from Bnei Brak was found after leaving her home and disappearing, and about two weeks ago searches continued for a 12-year-old boy from Beit Shemesh who vanished during the night. Police are asking anyone who knows anything about Yechiel Michael Chaim’s whereabouts to urgently call Israel Police emergency line 100. The public is asked to remain alert and report any relevant information to the authorities.
